Adelphi Help Center
Getting Started & Login
What's the difference between my login and my brokerage account?
Your login = your platform access (market data, watchlists, app features).
Your brokerage account = your actual investment account with approved trading and funding access.
You can have a login before your brokerage account is approved, your application may still be in review.
How do I update my password, email, or phone number?
- Sign in and tap your profile name (top right).
- Select My Profile → edit the field you want to change.
- Save and complete any security verification.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
- Tap Forgot Your Password? on the login screen.
- Enter your account email.
- Check your inbox (and spam) for the reset link, it's time sensitive.
- Set a new password and sign back in.
Opening an Account
How do I open an account?
Create your login first (phone, email, password), then follow the in app prompts to complete the brokerage account application.
Already have a login? Go to the account dropdown (top right) → Edit → Add Account → choose your account type.
What account types are available?
- Individual cash account
- Joint (JTWROS), two person account with right of survivorship
- Traditional IRA
- Roth IRA
- Entity account (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.)
What do I need to apply?
- Government issued photo ID (driver's license or passport)
- Social Security Number (SSN) or ITIN
- U.S. mailing address
- Entity applicants: formation docs, EIN letter, authorized signer info, and a resolution authorizing account activity.
Why are you asking for my SSN?
Broker dealers must verify each customer's identity and report certain account activity to the IRS. Your SSN or ITIN helps Adelphi do both.
Can I open an account if I've never invested before?
Yes, Adelphi is built for first time and experienced investors alike. You're in control of your own investment decisions; Adelphi does not provide investment advice.
How long does approval take?
Most individual applications are reviewed within 1 to 2 business days. Entity accounts may take longer depending on documentation.
What if my application isn't approved?
You'll receive a notice with the reason or any next steps we can provide. In some cases, you may be able to reapply after fixing the issue. Some decisions based on legal, regulatory, or risk requirements may be final.
Can I add a trusted contact or beneficiary to my account?
Trusted contact: Go to My Profile → Trading Accounts and add a trusted contact. This person may be reached in limited situations (fraud concerns, difficulty contacting you), they have no trading authority.
Beneficiary: Designate during account opening or later through the Beneficiary Assignment section. Percentages must total 100%.
Funding, Withdrawals & Transfers
How do I add money to my account?
ACH (bank transfer): Go to Deposits/Withdrawals → ACH Relationship → Link a Bank Account → verify → initiate transfer.
Wire transfer: Go to Deposits/Withdrawals → Wire Deposit widget (web) or Deposits → Wire Transfer (mobile app) for instructions.
Why can't I trade right after I deposit?
New ACH deposits go through a 4 business day clearing period before funds are available for trading or withdrawal. This protects you and the firm against fraud and returned transfers, standard practice across all regulated brokers.
What happens if my ACH deposit is rejected or reversed?
The deposit amount will be reversed from your account and a $45 returned item fee will apply. If the reversal creates a negative balance, your account may be restricted until it's resolved.
When can I withdraw money?
You can withdraw settled, available funds. You cannot withdraw:
- Deposits that are still within the 4 business day clearing window.
- Sale proceeds before T+1 settlement is complete.
Can I transfer my account from another broker?
Yes, eligible accounts can be transferred via ACATS (Automated Customer Account Transfer Service). The account at the other firm must have the same title, owner name, and SSN/Tax ID as your Adelphi account. Submit a Transfer Initiation Form (TIF) to start the process.
Trading
What can I trade?
U.S. listed stocks and ETFs, that's it for now. No options, no margin, no crypto, no futures.
When can I place my first trade?
Once your account is approved, funded, and your deposit has cleared. ACH deposits require the full 4 business day hold before you can trade.
How do I place a trade?
Tap Trade → search the ticker → enter your order details → review carefully → submit.
Always confirm account, ticker, buy/sell side, quantity, order type, and estimated value before hitting submit.
Market order vs. limit order vs. stop order, what's the difference?
Market order: Buy or sell immediately at the current market price. Fast, but no price guarantee, especially in fast moving markets.
Limit order: Buy or sell only at your specified price or better. You control the price, but execution isn't guaranteed if the market doesn't reach your limit.
Stop order: Becomes a market order once your stop price is hit. Useful for limiting losses or protecting gains, but the execution price may differ from the stop price in volatile conditions.
How do I know my order went through?
Check order status in the app: Open (sent/waiting), Filled (fully or partially executed), Rejected/Cancelled (didn't execute, reason shown).
You'll also receive an official trade confirmation per your delivery preferences.
When do my trades settle?
T+1, the next business day after your trade date. Sale proceeds are not available for withdrawal until settlement is complete.
Can I trade on margin or use leverage?
No. Adelphi offers cash accounts only. No margin, no leverage.

Both connect to the same brokerage account with identical balances and positions.
Will my balances and positions match between mobile and web?
Yes, both reflect the same account. If you see a mismatch, refresh the app and confirm you're on the right account. Contact support if it persists.
Can I open a new account from the mobile app?
Yes. After creating your login, you can start or continue a new account application in the app, select the account type, provide ID and identity information, upload documents, and review agreements.
Can I trade immediately after making an ACH deposit from the app?
No. The same 4 business day clearing period applies whether you fund via web or mobile. Your account must also be fully approved first.
The app isn't loading. What should I check?

Trust, Financial Health & Why Self Clearing Matters
Self Clearing & DTC/NSCC Membership
What does it mean that Adelphi is self clearing?
Many retail brokers use a separate clearing firm to settle trades, maintain account records, and carry customer assets behind the scenes.
Adelphi is self clearing and carrying. As DTC/NSCC Participant #1476, Adelphi connects directly to key U.S. clearing and settlement infrastructure and carries customer accounts on its own books and records.
You work with Adelphi end to end for account servicing, clearing, settlement, and custody, without a separate clearing firm in the middle.
What is the DTC and why does direct membership matter?
The Depository Trust Company (DTC) is a major U.S. securities depository that supports electronic custody and book entry movement of securities. The National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) clears, nets, and settles many broker to broker securities transactions.
Direct participation means DTC records positions in Adelphi's participant account (#1476). For securities held in street name, DTC's nominee, Cede & Co., is the registered owner, and Adelphi's books identify each customer as the beneficial owner.
What is the difference between a self clearing firm and an introducing broker?
See the comparison below.
| Introducing Broker | Adelphi (Self Clearing & Carrying) |
|---|---|
Introducing Broker Uses a separate clearing firm for clearing, settlement, and custody | Adelphi (Self Clearing & Carrying) Performs clearing and carries customer accounts directly |
Introducing Broker Customer assets are carried on the clearing firm's books | Adelphi (Self Clearing & Carrying) Customer assets are carried on Adelphi's books and reflected in its DTC participant account |
Introducing Broker Account servicing and clearing responsibilities are split between firms | Adelphi (Self Clearing & Carrying) Adelphi handles account servicing, clearing, settlement, and custody responsibilities |
Introducing Broker Depends on the outside clearing firm's systems and operations | Adelphi (Self Clearing & Carrying) Connects directly to DTC/NSCC systems as Participant #1476 |
Introducing Broker The introducing broker and clearing firm may each have separate roles | Adelphi (Self Clearing & Carrying) Customers work with Adelphi as both broker and carrying firm |
Your Assets & SIPC Protection
How are my cash and securities protected if something happens to Adelphi?
Several protections apply:
- Customer Protection Rule, SEC Rule 15c3-3 requires carrying broker dealers to safeguard customer cash and securities. Fully paid securities generally must remain in the firm's possession or control, and required customer reserve amounts must be kept separate from firm operating funds.
- SIPC coverage, Adelphi is a SIPC member. If a member brokerage firm fails and customer property is missing, SIPC protection may apply up to $500,000 per customer, including up to $250,000 for cash claims, subject to SIPC rules and eligibility.
- DTC book entry custody, DTC records securities positions for participants such as Adelphi. Adelphi's books and records identify the customer who beneficially owns each position.
What is SEC Rule 15c3-3 and how does it protect me?
SEC Rule 15c3-3, the Customer Protection Rule, helps keep customer assets separate from a carrying broker dealer's own business assets.
In practice, Adelphi must maintain possession or control of fully paid customer securities. It must also calculate the customer reserve requirement and deposit the required amount of cash or qualified securities into a Special Reserve Bank Account for the Exclusive Benefit of Customers.
What is the Special Reserve Bank Account?
It is a separate account maintained at a qualified bank for the exclusive benefit of customers. Adelphi performs the SEC reserve calculation on the schedule required for the firm and deposits any required cash or qualified securities into that account.
Can Adelphi use my securities or cash for its own trading or lending?
Adelphi does not offer margin accounts or a fully paid securities lending program. Customer cash and securities are handled under applicable SEC custody, possession or control, and reserve requirements. Investing losses are still possible, and SIPC does not protect against market declines.
Regulatory Standing & Oversight
Who oversees Adelphi?
Adelphi operates under oversight and membership requirements from:
- SEC, the federal agency that regulates U.S. securities markets and broker dealers.
- FINRA, the self regulatory organization that examines broker dealers and enforces member rules.
- SIPC, a nonprofit membership corporation that helps protect eligible customers if a member brokerage firm fails. SIPC is not a regulator.
- DTCC/DTC/NSCC, Adelphi must meet applicable participant membership, operational, financial, and risk management requirements.
How can I verify Adelphi's registration and regulatory record?
You can look up Adelphi Stock Brokers Inc. on FINRA BrokerCheck at brokercheck.finra.org. BrokerCheck shows the firm's current registration status, business information, and disclosed regulatory history. You can verify SIPC membership at sipc.org.
What is net capital and how does it apply to Adelphi?
SEC Rule 15c3-1, the Net Capital Rule, requires broker dealers to maintain minimum liquid net capital based on their business and approved computation method. Think of it as a financial buffer designed to help the firm meet its obligations.
Adelphi is required to monitor its net capital and submit required financial reports. The exact minimum depends on the firm's business, balances, and applicable computation method.
Does Adelphi report my account to regulators?
Yes. As a registered broker dealer, Adelphi complies with applicable reporting obligations including:
- FINRA CAIS, customer and account information submitted to FINRA.
- CAT (Consolidated Audit Trail), required reporting of securities order and trade events.
- IRS Form 1099 and related tax reporting, year end reporting of applicable account activity.
Which reports apply depends on your account and activity.
Firm Transparency
Is Adelphi publicly traded or privately held?
Adelphi Stock Brokers Inc. is privately held and is not listed on a public exchange. You can review its registration and disclosure information through FINRA BrokerCheck.

All firm legal documents, including customer agreements, privacy policy, and applicable disclosures, are available at adelphis.co. You can also access the firm's FINRA BrokerCheck profile at brokercheck.finra.org.
What is Form CRS and where can I find it?
Form CRS (Customer Relationship Summary) is an SEC required document for broker dealers that offer services to retail investors. It explains Adelphi's services, fees and costs, conflicts of interest, disciplinary history, and where to get more information. Adelphi's Form CRS is available at adelphis.co.
